Providence Catholic names new Head Varsity Boys Volleyball Coach
(New
Lenox) - Don Sebestyen, Principal of Providence Catholic High
School, is pleased to name Brett Krapil as the new Head Varsity
Boys Volleyball Coach. “We are pleased that Brett has accepted
the head coaching position and look forward seeing him lead the
Celtics to victory,” said Sebestyen.
Krapil has been a guidance counselor and assistant volleyball
coach at Providence Catholic for the past five and six years
respectively. Furthermore, he is a Class of 2000 alumni.
During his high school career, Krapil was a three-year varsity
outside hitter for the Celtic boys’ volleyball team.
Furthermore, he was named MVP, two-time Chicago Tribune Prep
Athlete of the Week, two-time Chicago Catholic League All-Star
and Chicago Tribune Top Player in the state of Illinois. He
also played in the 1998 State Tournament.
In
addition, Krapil attended Lewis University where he played
volleyball his freshman year. During this time, Krapil made the
Dean’s List, received a Student Athletic Award, which required
his GPA to be between 3.25-3.49 and was named Academic
All-Conference by Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball
Association (MIBA). Krapil obtained a Bachelor of Science in
Psychology from Bradley University and a Masters of Arts in
School Counseling and Guidance from Lewis University.
“I
am very excited to take over as Head Coach of the Providence
Catholic Boys Volleyball Program. I learned about the tradition
fourteen years ago and know what it means to play for the
Celtics. The former head coach Cindy Olczyk “Coach O”, who
started the program at Providence, has put a tremendous amount
of time and effort into this program and mentoring me to take it
over. She has taught me a great deal as a player, coach, and
many other life skills. I am honored that she is comfortable
leaving the program to me and I hope that I can take all the
skills and ideas I have learned from Coach O, Ultimate
Volleyball Club, and the Lewis Men's Volleyball Team and build
upon the great success of this program,” said Krapil.
