Peer Tutoring

The Peer Tutoring Program is intended to help students who, while making sincere effort, are experiencing difficulty in an academic class. Tutoring is a one-on-one instructional time between a volunteer student tutor and a student needing academic assistance.

Download an information sheet.

Download and print a peer tutoring request form.

General Procedures:

1. The student who is in need of extra help must print a tutor request form. It may also be obtained from a guidance counselor or the main office. The Tutor Request form is to be completed by the student, or the Guidance Counselor.

2. The completed Tutor request Form is to be returned to the Guidance Counselor or the Tutor Coordinator and a tutor search will begin.

3. Because this is a volunteer program, one week or more may be needed to find a tutor match. Occasionally, a match between a student and a tutor cannot be found.

4. A meeting between the Tutor Coordinator, tutor and tutee will be held to explain the tutor session procedures.

5. On assigned days, the tutor and tutee will report to the designated tutoring room.

6. The tutee's progress will be reviewed after approximately four weeks. The peer tutoring service will be renewed or terminated based on this evaluation.
